Hi Blogger's.
I'm just popping in to leave a couple of pictures. Thought I'd share.....Sydney got it's share of the rain at the end of last week, 4 days where it poured almost non stop.
My pour garden took a hiding. The pool and ponds are full to the brim and we had some flooding at the back of the garden. Thankfully all the dish drains around the house stood up quite well diverting the water off into the bush or over the rocks away from us and the people below us!
The drain Ian set all down the length of our drive and across the bottom of it did pretty well too. Amazingly though a couple of years back he dug a ditch leading off from this drain out into the bush at the side of us and that came into it's own too...hank goodness.....you can see the amount of water flowing down there....It will probably run for some time too! We lost some wattle which was a shame, but it was heavy with blossom and the wieght of the rain just split a limb.
All in all a busy time this week end, once the rain stopped it was time to clean up. Not a lot of crafting done so I need to get busy.
See you later,
Oh My! I am not sure what wattle means, but the limbs that are laying remind me of something that we call a golden chain tree. We sure could use some of that rain, but not in a violent way. TFS!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue! Wooh! That's a lot of rain! Love your bush garden and that FABULOUS pool !!...don't worry it won't be long until it will be getting some (proper) use !
ReplyDeleteOh my, it sure is wet, sorry hon bout your yard and garden..........stay dry!
ReplyDeletePoor girl - it's as wet there as it is dry here! Would love to see photos of your pool and gardens when they are all dry and blooming! They look beautiful :) Hugs...
ReplyDeleteOH MY... that's some serious precipitation!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Sue. I hate to hear this. The weather has been so crazy everywhere. Luckily we are having good weather although it is very cool for the middle of summer -- but I love it. Hope the rains stop so you don't have any more damage. Don't hurt your back again doing the cleanup!
ReplyDeleteSue, wow that is a lot of rain!! Hope it stops soon!! Thanks for sharing the photo's, I can tell your yard is really gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are awesome even though it shows the devastation in your yard which is not pretty. We've had so much rain here too and everything is still flooded close to the river. Just gave up on the garden this year, nothing is growing and now from all this heat everything is burning up. Just think how beautiful it will be when the rain is gone and everything is renourished and reblooming. "Hugs" Carol
ReplyDeleteThe wattle will come into its own again and the water will all dissipate. You look lovely and we up there - we are having some lovely blue days.
ReplyDeleteOMG.... you have another pool!.... and a waterfall!.... hopefully its drying out now!....
ReplyDeleteWhat funny weather we are having all over, yours is nasty and wet and ours is just darn cold!! at least it is good for crafting inside!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather this year has just been weird everywhere - we had the coldest winter for years and years, there were the awful floods in Queensland last yaer too. And the US and Canada are experiencing an extreme heatwave at the moment. Your rain seems to be forming part of a pattern!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the tree, shame to lose the flowers - but it will recover and look lovely again. I'd love to see some pictures of your garden in better conditions :)
Poor darlings what a lot of rain. Our pool used to turn green when it rained a lot, not a pretty sight. Hugs xx
