Lady in Red.

Hi Bloggers,

I visited a local Craft Fair late last year, not as big as the Sydney show but in a way just as good. In Sydney I got into the practice of walking around the floor once to take everything in then go back a second time trying to remember where I'd seen the things I couldn't leave behind :). Have you done that? It's so frustrating when you get home and remember at least one thing you meant to pick up and didn't!!!

Anyway the local show was smaller and not so spread out so very easy to remember what was where. Which was just as well when they had both of my favourite things covered.......Papercraft and Sewing!
The boss laughed when I walked in with lots of parcels and you should have seen the old fashioned look he gave me when I said  I'd saved so much time being able to stock up on products for two of my hobbies........pfhhhh

Enough chit chat, today's  CAS card is one made with a new set bought from the show.  The image is one of 4 such females and comes from Stamp In Style, another Australian stamp company from Northern NSW.  The Sentiment is from MFT Call Me. I used a Copic Multi Liner to draw the border detail.

Thoughts :   I remember when I could wear 4" heels :( and I loved red shoes. Still do (love red shoes that is).

See you soon,

Fun Sun and a BBQ...............

Hello Bloggers,

I've been siting at my desk playing with stamps and ink again..........It seems like I've been away ages!!!   I was really feeling a bit flat before Christmas and as for Mojo......well that had gone for a very long walk!

Slowly, I'm getting back into the swing with my December Daily more or less complete. Just a couple of pictures and some odd bits of journalling to add. The front cover to decorate in some way too.  I'll share a couple of pages soon.  I've actually started a Project Life Journal.....I know it's going to be hard keeping it up but I will try.  I've a couple of weeks worth of photos entered into the sleeves, leaving room for some Journalling which, I can add at my leisure. My trusty note book goes everywhere with me to jot down 'reminders' especially for the journalling!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I'm sharing a couple of cards and a small treat box I made using a great Aussie Christmas stamp set I won.  The set is called Backwoods and was designed by Aimee Dow for Polly Scrap Kits, an Australian on line store.
How cool is this Webber BBQ!  We've cooked a few Christmas turkey lunches in one of these :)
I've stamped and cut away the right side of the image popping the panel to some black card with foam tabs. The check on the left side is Washi tape and I coloured with Prisma pencils and Zest it blending solution.
What a great image for a male card don't you think, or an invitation :)
This card (officially my first Christmas Card for 2014) uses a sentiment and one of the small images from the set.  Kraft, red and white a favourite colour combo with a chipboard U.
Or how about this little lolly box made from a 6 x 5.5" piece of card, stamped using the Stars (Southern Cross ?) randomly.  This little box is super quick and easy using the Envelope Punch Board. Add some striped ribbon and the sentiment with a stamped bow.......All done and ready for a quick treat or thank you, any time of the year~~
My thanks again to Ruth for this set. I've added links to the Poly Scrap Kits online store and here's the link for the Australian Blog if you haven't already found it.
Thanks for calling past.........see you soon..........
Just to say.........
One just for fun......
Popcorn Bear from Crafter's Companion. Such a sweet image with some glitter added to the stamped flower.  Coloured with Prisma's, die cutting and punching to complete and this card is my entry to the following (new to me) challenges.
Cute Card Thursday - # 305 - So Sweet.
Thoughts when complete:  Lovely layers.....love them, every now and then :)
Hoot Hoot Horray!!
Hello!
I was checking out some of the small inexpensive stamps I  picked up at Scrapbook Boutique at the end  of November and found this cutie owl!
Owls have been everywhere.......have you noticed? I'm sure Santa's sack was pretty full of them!
Anyway here's what I made to put in my drawer for a little 'anytime' gift.  Check out all the details on the Scrapbook Boutique Blog today.
(score and fold detail for the banner)
Thanks for taking the time to call past today, see you soon.
Thoughts when finished:  Why am I sitting on the floor photographing this set? :)
Me and my December Daily.........Falalalala!
Hello, hello,
It's been another warm day here on the mid north coast.  The River has been busy with water skiers, wake board riders and giggling littlies being towed clutching onto inflatable rings.......and why not, it would be the coolest place to be other than the beach, that is!
Mind you, a pack of wild horses couldn't get me into the river......I've seen snakes swimming in there :(
R.R.I (recently retired Ian ! that's what I'm calling him at the moment with me W.O.R.R.I..........can you work that one out?) and I walked up to town to pick up the papers and decided to have lunch whilst we were there.....Very civilised ah!  Too hot to be in the garden, but it's looking pretty tidy after a couple of days work.....So I thought I'd complete a few more pages of my December Daily.  Did I mention this little project somewhere here?
OK well, I was on the back foot from the word go. I thought as this was my first, I'd order a complete kit. Folder, inserts, coordinating papers and embellishments.  It arrived at my house on the 1st December, after it's cruise from the US!  I think I understand now how people feel on receiving a food hamper.  It was such fun, going through all the little packages containing the bits I'd need to make my Journal festive.
I was invited to check in to the on line group and follow the progress of other December Daily 'keepers'. Only to find out that the savvy ones had probably had their kits long enough to set up the pages inside before December started....yeah right!
They'd set up the different sized inserts, spacing them evenly throughout the Journal. Added the decorated journaling cards, leaving enough pockets empty to enter photos and a line of text or two! The really experiences girls had the front of the journal decorated with the first, introduction page done too. Oh yes this makes sense ....who has the time to sit and do all this during December, along with everything else?
Note to self: start earlier next time!
WELL, not  to be put off, I'd get to it, I WOULD!
Perhaps I should keep a notebook as well, (thinks I) Just to jot down, what was happening and when. Thank goodness I did that at least, because to be honest, I really didn't do much else to my journal before Christmas :)  Waaaay too much going on in this house before we left for Victoria.
I'm still working on it........and enjoying it too! I think I'm pretty much up to Christmas day....(OK it's only 11th Jan!)
I must say I have enjoyed  flipping through the completed pages.  Have I really done something on every day that was worthy of a photo......YEP even if it was just coffee and cake out, with a quick photo taken on the iphone. The Boss is getting used to me whipping out the phone to snap a quick pic!
I still have to make up the first page and decorate the front of my Journal, but both will be kept pretty simple...Less is more...after all!   You should see my desk............what a mess.  Want to see?
Haha, I didn't put the wide angle lens on.........this mess spreads over two desk tops :)
Have you kept a December Daily? did you enjoy it? I'd love to hear your thoughts........For me I'd do it again and am seriously thinking about a weekly Journal......Project Life...... Walshie style of course!!!!
See ya later!
xx
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Join us again this year for our regular monthly inspirational challenge.
   Make a project using the following picture as your inspiration.

You could be the winner of a $30 gift voucher for Scrapbook Boutique.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's my 2014 desktop calendar which uses one of those Dollar Stores acrylic photo frames as the base which measure 5' x 7".  The calendar was a download HERE. It prints on 2 A4 sheets of card stock. I cut it to make my 3" x 4" monthly calendar.  I really like the font used and if you look closely you can see the watermark behind January. February has 02, March 03 and so on. Very elegant I think!  I'm always  grateful when clever people share their work :).
Now for those who like to read the 'how to' :
  • Slip a 5 x 7 inch piece of card into the picture frame.
  • Layer some neutral card over smooth white card.
  • Add a punched border to the edge of some polka dot dp and add this to the previous layers.
  • Stamp the image twice, cutting one using an oval die. From the second image cut out the wing.
  • Colour the image (and the wing) with Prisma Pencils using Zest it Blending Solution to blend the colours.
  • Die cut a lacy oval shape from neutral card stock.
  • Adhere the coloured image over the neutral card using double sided tape.
  • Using a foam adhesive square add the wing.
  • Die cut from scrap green card a leaf branch. I cut out two of the top leaves and stamped the birds feet to the branch so he sits on the branch :). Adhere this to the oval using dries clear adhesive.
  • Add the completed oval to the right of the layered card stock.
  • Print the 2 Calendar pages to A4 card and cut the individual months out at 4" x 6".
  • To adhere the 12 month together, make sure the tops are all even and using two bulldog clips to hold the pack together run some Tacky Glue across the top of the pack.  Leave to dry then remove the bulldog clips.
  • Add rows of high tac double sided tape to the back of the calendar and adhere to the layered card base.
  • Do the same to the base of the card and adhere to the acrylic photo frame to finish.
That's it from me, enjoy the rest of the hop!
