McScottie the Dog!

Hi Blogger's........... just back from the Port Macquarie craft show where I spent a happy hour or so taking in some fabulous craft.  Paper craft, needlecraft, silk dyed pieces, jewelery and best of all the wood turning and cutting.  I watched a man cut the cutest little birdhouse, hanging from a post that in total would have been just 4 inches tall. The detail was fabulous!   They had beautiful pens with the smallest scenes inlaid in the barrel. Beautiful pepper mills that were fine, not at all bulky and what's more they worked!!!!So many things to try......I wonder if I could interest the 'boyfriend' in this craft.......

Anyway, I have a different kind of card to share today.  One of the girls from the quilting group showed me a cat card she had received  and I thought I'd try one but make mine a dog!  I've a friend in the UK with a little dog just like this, so this card has her name on it!

I'm not the best sketch artist though I do, every now and then play! It's fun looking back through my sketch book at some of the things I've drawn........mostly for sewing I should say.  Anyway not sure that I have this little dog quite right but am hoping with the tartan bow and snipped edges to the face you'll get the idea :)

It's quite a simple design where you fold the head down over the folded front legs.  I used those $2 shop, googlie eyes and a button for his nose.  The little message he's presenting is a free download from Kolette Hall who designs and sells some beautiful cut files.......go take a look!

Soooo,........be honest, did you recognise this as a little scottie dog before I told you?............or do I need to keep practicing with my pencil!!!!

Here are a couple of ideas from me..........I have to say I struggled a bit after a week away!

This was my second attempt :) and advent style card.

Is there such a thing as an interactive Christmas card?  I don't know but this was interesting to cut and line up. I've used more of the new digital files to print some Chilli tiny dots to ABS smooth white card.
Matched it with Chilli 4mm Sprinkles and Silver Sprinkles for the little windows.

My first attempt flipped the sketch and used the vertical sentiment.  More digital goodness with the Blossom tiny dots and Avocado plain card......such a pretty soft green.
ABS striped green ribbon and pearls completed this non traditional card.

Thanks so much for taking the time to call past today. I hope you'll call in on the Belle's to see how they used the sketch and maybe share your cards with us again this week.

See you soon.................

Heavenly Magnolia.......

Hi Bloggers,

No card to share today.......I've been busy though in my little craft cave, getting a few things ready in advance!!  Christmas is fast approaching and you know how it is :)

I picked the first Magnolia from the garden today. The wallaby ate my Magnolia's in Sydney :( . I was thrilled to inherit some mature plants here at the blue house though.   I love them and can't resist having the beautiful perfume in the house.

I've been enjoying the heady perfume from just one bloom whilst working in the cave.......heaven!

Better get on...........bye for now.........

Merci...........CTS # 6

Holidays over and it's back to work for the 'boss'.  I've just about sorted laundry and am determined to get started on the Christmas cards this week so need to buckle down.  Before I do, I wanted to add my card for this week's CTS #6.

En Francais from SU stamped in Versa Color sand beige for the background of my main panel.
Prim Poppy from Memory Box dies was die cut from the centre of the panel and coloured with Copic markers before returning into position.
The Sentiment is from Waltzingmouse - Paris Nouveau and stamped in tuxedo black ink.
The centre panel is popped up on foam over a strip of plain black card.

We had a very relaxing holiday, after our false start!  Everyone was pleased when the aircraft landed on Lord Howe in brilliant sunshine early Sunday morning.

We packed in a bit of all sorts whilst we were there...........
Walking/trekking up to Kim's lookout from Old Settlement beach, round to Ned's beach to enjoy the most amazing views.......... paid for it a bit the next day......clearly unfit!  Cycled around the island! Can't remember the last time I was on a bike, but I must have been in my teens!!! Fed the fish at Ned's Beach.....hilarious!  Enjoyed the local cuisine eating the best seafood ever!  Can't believe we both added a couple of kilos after all the exercise ....... but there it is, the sign of a good holiday..... I think!

Haven't sorted through all the photos yet but will share a couple soon :)

Now Christmas cards.................

AnnaBelle Blog Hop - November

Hello,

Hello and welcome to the AnnaBelle Stamps November Blog Hop.

The Belles will be sharing projects made using Annabelle Stamps new Digital design papers which come with matching ribbons and Sprinkles. We are also using another of the Christmas sets, Decorated  Christmas.

The Blog Hop starts and finishes at the AnnaBelle Stamps Blog. If you arrived here from Andrea's Blog you're on the right track! When you leave me you hop over to Kylie's blog.  Leave a message on each of the blogs before Friday 4pm AEST and you could win the following:

Your own set of Chilli & Emerald Digi Design Papers (in either A4 or US Letter).
5 m Chilli satin ribbon
5 m Emerald satin ribbon
with the matching 5mm Sprinkles.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For my card today I chose to work with the soft Avocado coloured digital paper. I've used the small baubles as a centre for the rosettes which, I think means I can use this little set for much more than Christmas cards :).
By importing the solid colour along with the polka dot into Photoshop Elements I was able to print one A4 sheet which gave me the card base as well as the polka dot card to make the rosettes for this card.
Another thing I like about printing your own dp is that printing on one side only  means the inside is white, ready to write your message. If you want double sided card for a dimensional project you just flip the card over and send it through the printer again......how easy is that!
I've used Marion's scoring to create a grid over smooth white card.
Punched two strips of the polka dot card one a 1" the other 3/4" and scored it at 1/4" intervals to make the rosettes.
Two of the small baubles stamped and dressed with an avocado Sprinkle sit in the centre of the rosettes with some of the beautiful avocado satin ribbon, wrapped around the bottom of the card.
Go check out the store to see all the pretty combinations included in these digital paper packs, I think you'll love them!
On with the hop.
Congratulations, Tree Trimming and my day trip!!!!
Hello,
I didn't think I'd get a card made for this week's CAS(E) this sketch #5. We'd had a much enjoyed visit with  friends from Sydney and  I needed to get ahead with my DT cards before we left for Lord Howe Island.  (For my O/S readers that's just off the mid north coast of Australia.)
My packing was as always, last minute but that's OK I'm used to packing a bag in a rush! After weeks of glorious weather we finally got the rain we so badly needed just in time to dampen the fires burning around here. Not so good for our trip though!
We boarded the 'little' aircraft and flew across (about 1.5 hours) but the visibility was so bad, with low cloud cover they couldn't land........circled the Island twice, I might add.  Nothing to be done but turn around and fly home!!!
The 'boss' and I decided to come back to the house and sleep in our own bed before returning to try again, early the next day.  Soooo, the long and the short of it..... I had time to play with this week's sketch after all and made 2 very  quick cards!
Here's the sketch, interesting isn't it?
My first card using stamps from AnnaBelle Stamps, with some pink bling and two scored lines either side of the sentiment.  I also rounded the bottom corners of this card.
For the second card I used SU Kraft for the base and some punched leaves decorated with ABS cherry Sprinkles.
The sentiment strip is from the KaiserCraft 6x6 inch paper pad Twig and Berry.
No stamping at all on this one........hope that's still OK!
Thanks for calling past today.............
(Link your project on the SB Blog before 31/11/12
So this month we want you to show us your white creations :)
For my card I've been inspired by a little bit of sparkle as well as stars and snowflakes.
Die cut  the second largest star from Smooth White card and add a good layer of Art Glitter dries Clear adhesive. Sprinkle with the Diamond Dust and leave until the glue is dry before shaking off any excess glitter.  This beautiful glitter catches the light and is just about the prettiest I've tried :).
Take a piece of smooth white card cut to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" and emboss with any seasonal e.f. I used a Cuttlebug Snowflakes one but the Cuttlebug Stars would have been perfect :)!
Using the largest star die, die cut a star shape, off the page. It helps to use the glittered star to position this cut.
Wrap some white ribbon around the embossed layer, finishing with a bow.
Add plenty of foam adhesive squares to the back of the cut layer and position on a card base.
Adhere the glittered star within the large die cut space.
Zip Dry glue is my choice of wet glue, it holds very well once dry but  gives you enough time to position things correctly.
Die cut the letters to spell JOY from smooth white card and emboss with a Swiss dots e.f. before adding to the card front with more adhesive foam.
Hope you'll join us again this month......now on with the hop!
