Elegant Post,Timeless Treasures, 2 sketches 4 You

Hi,
Just a quick post today with three more cards from the Gina K Designs July release, two are from Nina Brackett's 'Elegant Post' and one from Theresa Momber's Timeless Treasures.

The first one is for a challenge at 2 sketches 4 you. It uses the hanging basket stamped and clear embossed onto pure white card then coloured with Copics. I stamped it within one of the borders from my new JustRite Stampers and cut it using an oval Nestability die. The stamped image was then layered onto pink card and attached to the background which is just three strips of dp Basic Grey Bittersweet Vanilla Fudge - how pretty is this paper! The outer edges were punched with a lace border punch from SU. To finish I added a pearl either end of the image.

The second card:
This uses the largest Birdcage from the same set plus the two birds. Most of the cards I've seen using these two images have the birds inside the cage, I couldn't do that I liked to see them free sitting on top!!! I've stamped them all in a bronze ink.
I've used the new Green Apple card stock and a sheet of Gina's digital paper - how pretty is that.
Added some brown ribbon, bronze brads and a tab.

The third card is from Theresa Momber's set Timeless Treasures. This is a beautiful set with 9 images and 7 sentiments (how good is that!!). This set is great for men and women and I am joining Theresa on Tuesday Aug. 3 10pm CST (which will be Wednesday 1pm Aussie time) on a blog hop for her set. Please check back I have two fab cards to show, 1 male and 1 gorgeous female card (well I think the female card is one of my best so far!!!) .
Today's card I wanted to make in a vintage style - the image was stamped and clear embossed. then coloured with Copics. Those of you who know Theresa know she does the most beautiful sponging on her cards - well I tried..... think I have a bit to learn though!
I also stamped the sentiment onto my satin ribbon which wasn't as successful as I'd hoped!!!!
Did you enjoy the Release Party - hope so! I managed to get one card only uploaded then lost my connection!!! how annoying is that - I so nearly threw the computer out the window!!!!
Think I might be posting Elegant Post and Timeless Treasures for a month!!!

That's it for today hope you come back tomorrow........

July Release Party - Gina K

Hello,
Two cards to show today, both from Nina Brackett's new set 'Elegant Post'.
This first one is made using the new Apple Green card stock from Gina K for the base of the card.
I stamped the post using black ink onto some white card then cut it out! Well, I wanted to wrap some fine gold cord around the post so I had to cut... OK. Once the cord was wrapped I used lots of narrow strips of tape to attach the post to a layer of Rocket Red card.
Using two Nestability dies I cut from Apple Green a circle to form the base of the wreath. I used the EK Success Pine punch to punch out a few pine springs then arranged these around the wreath adding some red gems here and there. This was attached to the red card, followed by the sentiment, stamped in black. I tied the knotted ribbon across the top right hand corner attaching the antique bell next.
Now my red card was complete I matted it to some white card. I machine stitched using red thread around the outside of the red card, before attaching this to the Apple Green base.

The second card is using the love birds (as I call them). This is such a pretty little image I've already used it a few times. Here I stamped it onto GKD Pure Luxury pure white card and using a Nestabilities circle die cut it and matted it to a larger circle cut the same way.
My base card this time is GKD Soft Sand and I've started with a digital paper from GKD.
I ran a layer of Apple Green through the Cuttlebug using Swiss Dots to emboss it. To this I added a layer of digital paper again from GKD.
I've punched along the bottom of some PL white card with the SU lace border punch them embossed the top of this card with Swiss dots leaving an area smooth to stamp the sentiment in Versa Color Sand Beige. This is under laid with a lace border punched from chocolate brown card then added to the matted green card. I've tied a ribbon across the top join before adding the stamped image which was popped up using foam tape. So now the green card is complete I added this section to the base card again using foam tape to pop it up.
This seemed like a long ramble today, sorry. Thanks for stopping by.

PS hope I see you at the Gina K Release Party over at SCS 8pm CST (11am Aus) today!!!!!

Until tomorrow.....

Just need to add this card today!!!
This is the latest freebie from Sunshines Paper Obsessions
and was available from Christina's blog!
There are new digital stamps due to be released very soon
so don't forget to check out her blog whilst your surfing!!!
Christina has a large design team and they will all be
showcasing projects using the new stamps.

Love Bug....... Mojo 97

Hello,
Mojo Monday on Thursday again, I really am slipping!
This is another of Nina Brackett's 'bug me anytime' images, I thought it was perfect for this paper so here goes.
  • Paper: American Crafts - Cricket, GKD - pure white layering weight, DP - Frencheville - Lime Fizz.
  • Inks: Versa Color 42 Lime and 34 Orchid
  • Embellishments: Kaiser Scrapbook - pearls.
The base card is basic white layered with Cricket.
I've used both sides of the dp, the top was also embossed using a Swiss dots embossing folder.
I used a Nestabilities die to cut the circle and the scalloped circle.
The butterfly image was stamped and sponged whilst still in the die.
This was then layered onto Scalloped Cricket and attached to the dp.
The two small butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch then set with a small pearl each, before attaching to the dp.
The sentiment stamped and matted to more of the Cricket, attached to the card with foam tape to pop it up.I cut the corner detail from a scrap of the Cricket and attached the three pearls to finish.
This little card will also go into the Stamp TV colour challenge this week which is pink and green.
Thanks for dropping by
Till tomorrow.........

Day 2 Vintage collection

Hello,
So today the second set of my Vintage Ladies!
Pink and green looks so ladylike don't you think she was matted onto a scalloped oval of pink card and sat on some pretty dp from Nanna's Nursery by DCWV. Just a small pink bow to finish her off.
Little Miss pretty in Blue thinks she's a Princess!! I've kept the blue with a soft blue card decorated with SU dp in the darker blue which is double sided so the flowers were punched from this and some scraps of another SU blue dp. The flower centres are some pearls, and I added the pale green pine. To finish this card I just rounded one corner.
So which was your favourite - my craft friends were here last night and they all liked the same as me the Green card from the first post!!!! I think we all like the her coy look!

I have to get on today and do Mojo - this weeks is an interesting sketch and I love a good sketch challenge.

I've been a bit slack posting cards from Sunshine's digital range she has one out at the moment that all the car loving boys will love. My card's done just need to get it posted so that's on my list too.

Hope you have a good Wednesday, thanks for dropping by

Vintage Collection!!!!

Hello again,
For all you lovely people out there who came to my blog yesterday to check out my card and gift box - a big THANK YOU! What a buzz to read all your comments. I'll share the link for the little gift box with you today I picked it up from Bev who is such a lovely lady and a great card maker so check her out too.
Today I've got two cards to show you from my 'Vintage Collection', at the moment I have four in the collection but I will be adding to it in time. These cards a different is as much as so far they have no stamping on them, that's not to say I won't stamp on them in the future though!
The first one in Green is my favourite - she looks as my Mum would say 'a bit of a madam'! You will probably have to click on the images to see them properly.
There isn't much to say about these cards except that I got them from an Internet site (the badge is on my sidebar but the address is http://oldphotoalbum.blogspot.com). They are free to be used but not added to a collection to sell. I also have a set of 5000 Royalty Free images I bought some time ago that I have used on cards, but beware, you have to be sure that they are free to use.
The fun with these cards is picking the style and the paper and embellishments to go with them.
The green one I kept quite simple using the two dominant colours in the image with just an addition of ribbon on the tag matt and some sparkle in the four corners.
The lemon card is made in the gate fold style with the image matted onto bright gold in keeping with her dress. The only other embellishment being the gold shimmer ribbon tied into a big bow.
I'll be back tomorrow with the two cards that make up this set.
Thanks for dropping by, I hope you'll leave me a comment to let me know what you think of these.
Till tomorrow............

Gina K July Stamp Release - Elegant Post

Hello!
Day one of the blog hop preview for Gina K Designs July stamp release!

Soooo much excitement over at Stamp TV with the members keen to get some new rubber to play with. Then there's all the fun of the release party to look forward to over at SCS on Thursday 30th July from 7 - 10pm (CST) which is 10am - 1pm Friday for us Aussies!!

The members of the July Spotlight Team were asked to make a card with one of the new sets - and I'm thrilled to be showing you a card and gift box I made with Nina Brackett's new set 'Elegant Post'. This is the third set Nina's designed for Stamp TV and like the first two the detail is really fine. So the perfect combination fine detail in a soft cushioned rubber stamp!
When I saw the set it reminded me of shopping in Stratford on Avon during the summer months, with the pretty window boxes and hanging baskets on display along the river. With these happy memories in mind I set to work.

I've stamped the image to match some new Green Apple cardstock that Gina has added for July. The post was clear embossed to give a little shine. I chose to use the hanging basket and after adding one image to the post the second was stamped onto a scrap of matching card, coloured then cut out and positioned over the first image with foam tabs.

Construction:
My base card is made using Gina K Pure Luxury Heavy Weight Card in pure white and measures 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches.
I've added a layer of Green Apple followed by some dp and a more Green Apple that I embossed with Swiss Dots.
I've used my favourite lace punch along one side of the stamped image and underlayed it with more punched lace using Rocket Red. Tied the ribbon along the bottom edge and attached this element to the card base with a small red tab in the top left hand corner. Stamped the elegant Birthday wishes sentiment across the top to finish the card.

The gift box is a very quick box made using just one sheet of Gina's Green Apple a scrap of dp and some more Rocket Red. I stamped another image from Nina's set, how cute are they, little love birds! Used a die cut to cut them into a circle and mounted this to more of the green and red cardstock before attaching them to the box with foam tabs. Added the Birthday wishes to the bottom of the box and tied some matching ribbon to close.

This is such a great little stamp set, I'm sure it will become a favourite of many. I've made some other cards that I will share with you soon. Think Christmas!!! well I did, Apple Green and Rocket Red - perfect, the red has some textured stripe running through it too which looks great on so many layouts. I Hope you like my little set, I've really enjoyed showing it you today. Don't forget the release party, there will be challenges from some of Gina's Senior Design Team and lots of fun.
Now......

Saturday 25 July 2009

Hello!!!

Hi everyone,
how's your Saturday? It's been a good day again here, plenty of sunshine so a good time to be working out in the garden. Oh how I'd love one of those gardens you can potter in with a big sunhat and a basket over your arm - do you know what I mean? Instead I wear the thickest gardening gloves I can find and spend my time picking up leaves and trying to keep the bush out. For the non Aussies - the bush means the natural land around us (its pretty wild!!).

No cards to post today - sorry I'm working on a new collection of mine - something a bit different for me as a change. I will start posting this in a couple of days or so.

Just a reminder that the Gina K Designs release preview starts with a blog hop on Sunday central US time which means Monday 13.00 for us Aussies! So my Monday post will be scheduled to start with them as I' ll have a card to show!!!!! I'll also have links for the GKD design teams blogs so there will be lots to look at - you have to see these new sets!!!

OK better get on - Till next time

Stamp TV Sketch Challenge - With This Ring

OK here is the sketch Cathy very kindly copied from my card for me. !! My card measures 7 1/2 inches by 4 inches. It uses two dp's with the image stamped onto one of them. The sentiment is stamped within a ring 'frame'.

Here is my card:

  • Stamps: GKD With This Ring (by Rupa Shevde)
  • Card: GKD Soft Sand heavy base weight, dp Kimberly Poloson - blooming love/flourish stripe, EK Success - heart and soul. Pearled Cream Card (from my stash - sorry)
  • Silver embossing powder from Print Blocks, Kaiser self adhesive pearls, Ribbon.
  • Punches: McGill - pine, EK success - retro flowers in small and medium.
I've used GKD soft sand heavy base weight for my card base, layered first with a cream pearled card followed by my two dps (both of these were double sided).
I've used my sewing machine to sew the zig zag stitch. The Bells were embossed directly onto the dp in silver, at the same time I silver embossed the wedding bands on a scrap of the reverse side of one of the dps and cut them out.
The ring frame was cut twice, first from the same reverse dp using two sizes of Spellbinders circle dies and the second exactly the same but from soft sand. This was done to make the ring frame stand out a little from the card. I used double sided tape to stick them together and positioned them with the ribbon sitting above one end of the frame. However before I attached this element I silver embossed the sentiment so that it sat above the ribbon. The wedding bands were attached below the ribbon which just left the flowers to play with.
These were punched from two retro flower punches. To add some interest I ran the flowers through the Cuttlebug using Swiss dots. Small pearls were attached to the centre of all the flowers and I punch two pale green pine stems to finish.

So what do you think? was I right to discard the other two?

I have to tell the truth I actually made this card up twice - it started out a bit longer so the bell looked out on its own!! Also I embossed in gold and hated it!! The first one didn't use ribbon it had white tulle tied in a knot so the card was way too pale. I like the addition of the soft green which picks up the colour in the striped dp.
Anyway hope people play with my sketch and I get to see what they do with it. More than that I hope I post it correctly over at STV!!!!!

On Sunday we start the week of blog hops to preview the new sets from Gina K Design and guess who's up Sunday!!! All I can say is that there are some very interesting sets this month - something for everyone I think, so come back and check it out.

Mojo Monday 96 -

Good Morning,
At last Mojo Monday! I actually made this card on Tuesday but didn't get to post it.
Did I say earlier in the week everyone is doing three strip cards.... well here's another! I had some fun with this little card, using two of Nina's stamps from bug me anytime.

  • Stamps: GKD bug me any time.
  • Papers: GKD Pure Luxury heavy base weight pure white and layering weight in pure white, pale pink craft card, GKD Digital paper, summer fabric - gauze, DP is from Heidi Grace Designs. Green specialty paper.
  • Inks: VersaFine vintage sepia and Copic Markers
  • Additional embellishments: Green ribbon, silver clip.
My one inch strips of dp are layered onto pale pink craft card. I've started with pale Pink followed by the digital paper before attaching the three strips. Two rows of stitching were added top and bottom followed by the green ribbon.
I stamped the two images with the aid of my stamp-a-ma-jig then coloured them with Copics.
Using two Spellbinders circle dies I cut first the stamped image then a larger scalloped circle of the specialty paper. Once they were stuck together I cut into the scallop all around to make it look a little frayed then attached them to the card.
The tag was also cut with a Spellbinders die once the sentiment from the same set was stamped. I've used the silver clip to attach this to the card.

Hope you like this card, tomorrow I'll show you my card for the sketch challenge over at Stamp TV. I hope those of you who are members over there will join in and make a card.

Till tomorrow..........

Wednesday 22 July 2009

Wishing you........

Hi,
Hey thanks for your nice comments on You Raise me Up!! Oh, now I'm worried, Walshie liked that one too - you might not like the one I picked !! Friday it's up here.

So this is the first card made for my Sketch Challenge on Stamp TV! I liked the layout of this card and will use it again soon. What I wasn't happy about is the image. Oh I love the image but not as I stamped it. Too much white here I think this layout needed more.
  • Stamps: GKD Many Wishes
  • Paper : GKD Pure Luxury Soft Sand, Bazzill, Kaiserscrapbook - Rustic Charms.
  • Ink: Versa Color - Sky Grey
  • Birds and Swirls Cuttlebug Embossing Folder,SU Lace punch, gold swirl and gross grain ribbon.
Guess who received her new JustRite Stamps on Monday!! I just had to have a play.
Kathy gave me some tips to get a good image from the rubber so I did as she said and cleaned any residue from the stamp then gave it a light rub with 2 emery boards the 2nd one was very fine. Now the ink I used was Martha Stewart and quite pale so I wasn't really supprised when the 1st try did'nt work too well. Here is the card I made (very quickly) with my second try. I didn't think it was too bad at all. What do you think?

Not the best picture the sun hadn't quite made this end of the house sorry about that!

Till tomorrow............

Baby Boy - SASSC24

Hello all,
Stamps and Smiles have a sketch challenge every week and this is my entry for Mercy's challenge no 24. I needed a card for another new arrival, a little boy so picked some pretty card I've had for a while. Sorry I've cut the edge off so not sure who's it is, the sheet was made up of stripes of pattern so it was perfect for this sketch.
I started with my white card base then baby blue card. Each strip of paper is mounted to a teal/blue plain card before attaching to the background. I embossed the baby carriage from SU Fast and Fun Notes using silver onto white card . A Spellbinders die was used to cut the image into an oval and whilst still in the die I sponged around the image with SU bashful blue. The carriage was coloured with a grey Copics marker before mounting onto another scalloped oval of baby blue card. To finish off I added four blue brads.
Until tomorrow........

I'll post that other 'rejected' sketch card tomorrow - just need to get this one up. Oh and I've made a card with my new JustRite stamper need to take a pic but will add that tomorrow too.
Ed. Note: Thanks Robyn, the dp I've used on this card is from Heidi Grace.

Monday 20 July 2009

You Raise Me Up!

Good Morning all!
This is another of those tall cards I quite like to make once in a while.
I have to make a challenge card for Stamp TV's sketch challenge this coming Thursday and to date I've made three!!!

This was the second one I made thinking that not many people set tall cards. However once I had finished it I wasn't too happy and decided on the card I'll blog on Friday of this week.

I'm not quite sure what it is that bugs me, I like the dp which is a double sided Kaisercraft called Rustic Charm. The image is GKD Eclectic Summer. Perhaps the layout is wrong , not sure anyway if I change the Sentiment I think it would make a passable male card!!

I did use a new corner punch that is quite neat I want to play with this see if it would punch a border.

Tomorrow I'll show you the first card I made and I know exactly why I didn't go with that one!!!
Till then..........

Warm and Cozy Christmas 1

Hello again,
I'm back! well we did it 6 out of 7 of us talking all at once! add to that a couple of husbands saying hi and it was a fantastic start to the day!! More about this later.
What do you think of this little card?
  • Stamps: GKD Warm and Cozy Christmas, Sentiment SU
  • Card: Red craft card. Kaisercraft dp - Cheer, Basic Grey - Wassail and Figgy Pudding Forest.
  • Copic Markers
This is my card for Shannon's sketch challenge over at Stamp TV this week. I loved the strips and as she had used some stitches on her card I thought I'd do the same playing with a stitch I hadn't used on paper before. I love how it turned out and know I'll use it again.

I attached the three strips to my background paper and used the (very expensive) embroidery machine to add the stitch detail . (I must remember to change this needle if I do any fabric sewing lol!).
The image was stamped and clear embossed then coloured with my Copics (not very well really I need to take the time to practice!).
I decided to cut a frame with two sizes from my Spellbinders square dies then ran it through the Cuttlebug using Swiss dots. I fixed this onto the image then using foam tape attached it to the card.
The sentiment from SU was added to the bottom to finish off the card.
Strips must be all the go at the moment, Stamps and Smiles sketch for the week is similar!!

Back to the chat fest this morning......... at 10am we got on line and I pulled the plug about an hour later. Betty is going to run the chat next Sunday so we don't all talk over each other ROFL!! We have to send her an email with what we want to talk about and then we'll work through the list - sounds good ah I wonder if it works! Christina from Sunshine's Paper Obsession was there too with Rob (briefly) so really want to talk about what she has coming up with her Digital images - must write that on my list. Did you know you can have up to 24 people on a conference call??? and Skype is a free download from the Internet with free Skype to Skype calls....... just imagine.
OK better get on with another card and post this over at Stamp TV.
Till next time...........

What a mad couple of days!!!

Helloooo,
Sorry I haven't posted again for a couple of days - cards tomorrow (well later today that is!).
Kerrie and I have been chatting on Skype with our Stamp TV friends over in the USA and Canada!! It's so much nicer to speak with people don't you think? we chat over the Internet but it's not the same as actually talking. We had a conference call four of us and tomorrow we hope to have all seven fingers crossed! You know what it's going to be like all talking at one lol!!!!
Anyway I'm halfway through a card so watch this space - don't go too far away!!!!!

Nite Connie, Olga, Kez

Till later............

Buttons Galore.........

Hello how are you today?
We've been enjoying some winter sunshine here is Sydney thankfully, as we hate those dull days.
I felt like playing yesterday, Walshie was working from home so the kitchen was out of bounds to me. He says he can spread out here and enjoy the view outside! Anyway I was having a tidy up in my craft room, sorting out odd pieces of paper and such. Decided to put a few scraps together and took down my button jar. This is the card I came up with.
  • Stamp GKD bug me anytime by Nina Brackett
  • Inks Martha Stewart - meyer lemon, bamboo and hibiscus plus two Copic markers
  • Card GKD Pure Luxury layering weight pure white, Kaiserscrapbook - garden party, pale blue , lemon and green scraps.
  • Embellishments: Assorted buttons, green organza ribbon
I've started with white card then layered with pale blue. The green, lemon and dp I've punched along the right end with my SU lace border punch.
The butterfly image was stamped onto pure luxury pure white which was then cut using a Spellbinder die. I cut a second square in the green card using the scalloped die, then mounted the image.
Now the fun part, each of the buttons (once I sorted out how many I needed to fit around the square) were taped around the frame (20 in all!).
I cut an oval, again with a Spellbinders die. Stamped the sentiment towards the right hand end and attached this to the card folding the left hand side to the back.
Some ribbon knotted along the side and playtime was over!
Not a bad way to use some scraps of card and a few buttons is it.

Till next time...........

Wednesday 15 July 2009

Red, Black and White.......

Good Morning all,

Well look at this picture - I'm happy with this card! (first time for about a week! ).
I made it as one card for two challenges over at Stamp TV, Jessica's sketch challenge and Sue, one of the July In the Spotlight Designers who picked a colour challenge. Her theme was as you can see red, white and black.

These colours together are so striking, I mean to make more.

  • Stamps: GKD elegant flowers. Coloured with Copics.
  • Paper: Red craft card, Black Bazzill, White Pure Luxury GKD, DP American Crafts - backyard peep.
  • Embellishments: Pearls from Kaisercraft, Butterfly - Martha Stewart, flowers EK Success Retro Flowers.
  • SU Lace border punch.
I started with red card cut to give me a 4 3/4 inch square card.
Then layered first white and then the dp. The white card was punched with the lace punch and I added a strip of black card across this.
The red rectangle was embossed using Swiss dots and layered on black bazzill.
The image was stamped and clear embossed before I coloured with Copics. This too was set on black bazzill.
Then I got to play with flowers and pearls! love this bit. For the flowers I ran a scrap of the red card through my Cuttlebug again using Swiss dots, just to add some interest.
Pearls were used on the butterfly, as centres for the flowers and to embellish the strip of black card.
Hope you like this card - I really enjoyed making it after a week of so so cards.
Till next time......

Patrick Police Car!!

Hi all,
say hello to Patrick Police Car - this is the latest in the digital images from Christina at Sunshine's Paper Obsessions. Another image perfect for boys cards don't you think! If you would like this image for one of the boys in your life call over to Christina's blog here and she will send you a copy.
This time I printed the image onto card heat set then coloured using Copics.
The dp is from Basic Grey (I think it's called glee) a double sided paper and I've used both sides.
The badge was cut using my Pazzles Inspiration and embossed in gold with the sentiment computer generated and cut with a small scalloped Spellbinder. I added the star to finish off.

I've been playing around with layouts over the last couple of days - no cards made just a few different layouts. I need to get a couple of cards for the challenges over at Stamp TV - Sue has posted a red, white and black challenge so think I might start with that. Then Jessica has a great sketch challenge so that will be next - You might just see these in a day or so!!!! Oh and I'm working on a Wedding card - I've never made one of these before so lots to do, better get on with it.
Till next time............

Good Morning,
So you made it to the week-end, well done now you can take some time out to enjoy the things you really enjoy doing (well after you've caught up with the washing, ironing and cleaning that is!!!). It's been a good week overall here with a few projects completed, not as much as would have liked but still not too bad.
Today's card is a another one made from Nina's stamp set 'bug me anytime'. I seem to be breaking this set up a bit, need to sit down and stamp it properly to show you how it really looks - maybe over the week-end.

I've used just one of the flower images and stamped it 5 times onto white card stock with Versafine Vintage Sepia Ink . I coloured the images with Copics and cut them out. That's the hard bit done!!!
My normal size white card was folded to make a long slim card.
I've used some striking blue craft card as the 1st layer and embossed this with Swiss Dots.
The dp from American Crafts called Bookshelf is used at the bottom of the card.
The 5 pinwheels were spaced across the top than a piece of ribbon was added with a ring and tag cut with a Spellbinders die and coloured with Copics. - Phew that was quite a sentence!!!
OK off to try and organise my sketch challenge for Stamp TV !! Not too sure how I'm going to draw this up at the moment any ideas??
Till next time......
