The Roses Challenge - Aussie, Aussie, Aussie....

Hello......... Last Sunday of the month which means it's time for The Roses Challenge!

Mary Anne picked the theme for this month and it's a great one!   A PATRIOTIC theme.  Here's what she said:

This month, with the Olympics (which rings our world together), the U.S. 4th of July, etc. I want
you to create something to show me what patriotic means to you. Use your country's colors and be proud!

With the Olympics opening ceremony on Friday.... this house is set for two weeks of SPORT!!!!!

London put on quite a spectacular and though I didn't stay up to watch the ceremony live, I watched it on Saturday evening.  Born in the UK I still like to see 'The POMS' do well in sport unless they're playing Australia that is :)

So now I had to make a card and luckily can combine both Countries. We share the same colours in our flags, with a Union Jack  in both but the Aussie flag has the Southern Cross to the right.

Ian thought I should go with the popular green and gold colour theme, which is used by the athletes.......but I like the idea of Red, White and Blue which we share. It's also the colours for the American Roses........even better!

Thanks Mary Anne, great challenge this month.

The Australian girls 4 x 100 mts relay have won our first gold medal......so we're off to a good start.
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie..........

AnnaBelle Stamps - Challenge Friday - ac052

Hello, welcome to AnnaBelle Stamps Challenge this week.  Andrea has a sketch for us and the DT have been asked to use one of two of her beautiful Christmas sets, Christmas Scene Baubles or Gifted Swirls.

Play along by adding your card to the ABS Blog for your chance to win the set: Christmas Scene Baubles.  You can 'post' your project to the gallery at   Stamp, Embellish, Create if you don't have a blog.  Add the Tag absc052 to your card though ........ so we can find it!

I've played with the sketch a bit for my card but I'm pretty happy with the result.  Using the PI die cutter I drew a hexagon and repeated it to cut the six shapes from a piece of coloured card stock.
I lightly marked the position of the cut outs on the white base card.
The images and  sentiments were positioned within the marked spots with the aid of a stamp-a-ma-jig.  A die cut loopy border and some ABS black/white striped ribbon was added to the cut work card before popping up over the stamped base card with foam dots.
Three 4mm plum Sprinkles add the required bling!

Check in with the Belles for more inspiring cards this week........Links under the DT tab at the top of my page.

I'm entering this card in the following awesome challenges this week:

Two new (to me) Sunday Challenges for fun!

Hiya...........it's been a miserable cold Sunday here in the country, with rain on and off.  The boss and I did get a walk in though.....between showers! Take a look at this beautiful rainbow I snapped over the river.

I have a card to share......... but please be kind it was so hard to get a photo.  Black cards are a challenge and the dull day didn't help.......roll on summer.....I hope we get one this year!

I made this card for two challenges. Jay Gee's Nook Challenge # 21 which was a beautiful photo inspirational challenge:

I picked the little bottom left hand corner and the lace  from the ties for inspiration.

The first photo was taken inside ......horrible colour cast....sorry!

Second photo taken outside .....a little better but not much......I miss my 50mm lens...boo hoo!

This is also my card for this week's CAS-UAL Friday Challenge #62

My black background has a scored bottom section with the tag popped up on foam dots.

The sentiment and heart come from AnnaBelle Stamps lovely "Love Birds" 6" x 4" set.

I did it!!!!

Hello all,

Well I did it!  Sat in the hairdressers whilst a complete stranger cut my hair!   It's quite a bit shorter so will have to wait and see how I manage it!!!!  Nearly all the colour has gone now so I look like my Mum.....snowy!!!!

What do you think?

Oops left my glasses on!  The back, after I pulled a sweater off and on a couple of  times ....

Walshie is laughing his head off standing in the door way LOL.  He can't believe the fuss, he walks in and asks for a number 2!!!

I'm sitting in my little craft space as you can see and it's a bit dark in here.  Might be better if I painted the walls lighter but until we sort out this back part of the house it seems a bit pointless. You get a glimpse of my working area though :)

Yesterday I spent the day with a new group of ladies sewing!  Oooh I wish you could have seen all the beautiful quilts, bags, table runners and wall hangings decorating the sewing room. Well it's a barn really but once inside you'd never know!!!!  We're all working on an embroidered quilt bag........ I think mine will be a weekend take away bag when finished..........I'll share when I have something to show :)

Hope you all have a good week end planned I have some cards to make but if the weather's nice I'll be outside I think..........

See you soon.............

White Christmas......

Read about if here  and add a comment to be in the running to win 6 beautiful stamp sets.

Friday's AnnaBelle Stamps Challenge is to say it with   CHRISTMAS !

Play along for you chance to win this ABS set: Gifted Swirls.

The DT are all using this set or their cards, so check in with them for more inspiration! The links are under the DT tab at the top of my page..........Or visit the AnnaBelle Stamps Blog for a quick look!

I started with an embossed layer of white card, over which I brushed some Pearl White PerlEx.
My card features the lovely tree from the set, embossed in silver.   ABS silver Sprinkles and beautiful cord. To complete the popped up panel, I used some Star Dust Stickles around three of the sides.

The PerlEx is hard to catch in my photo, but it really adds a pretty shimmer to the card.

Have you added your card in the Polka Dot Challenge over at Stamp Embellish Create yet?  We'd love to see one from you..........invite your friends too. Our Community is growing over there so come and join us.

This card is for the following challenges:

A Challenge card... Less Is More 3 off.....

Hi Blogger's,

This week the girls from Less is More are challenging us to "Use 3" on a one layer card. It could be three images, three words, or colours, three anything.

So here's what I came up with............

Three lots of three here.......well actually....probably four!!!

Three daisies from AnnaBelle Stamps 'Daisy Delights'.
Three Pumpkin Sprinkles also from AnnaBelle.
A three line sentiment from AnnaBelle Stamps 'Love Birds'
Three ink colours too.  I'm getting carried away now.....right?

I scored the grid and frame using my Scor-Pal after seeing Marion's Topical Tuesday tutorial over at Stamp Embellish Create.  It adds great dimension to a one layer card don't you think?

Thanks for your visit, see you Friday for AnnaBelle's Friday challenge..............
